Composite bonding is one of the quickest and most conservative ways to improve your smile. Using tooth-coloured resin, we can repair chips, close small gaps and even out worn edges, usually in a single visit and with little or no removal of natural tooth. We welcome patients from Douglas and across the Isle of Man.
Who is composite bonding for?
Bonding suits people with small cosmetic concerns: a chipped front tooth, slight gaps, uneven lengths, or teeth that look short from wear. It is often chosen as an alternative to dental veneers because it is reversible and gentler on the teeth.
If your teeth are significantly crooked, we may suggest straightening your teeth first with clear aligners, so that less bonding material is needed and the result looks more natural.
How the treatment works
We begin with a check of your teeth and gums. Many patients also choose teeth whitening beforehand, because composite does not change colour once placed, so we match the bonding to your brighter shade.
On the day, the tooth surface is lightly prepared, and the resin is applied in layers, shaped by hand and hardened with a curing light. Finally it is polished to blend in with your natural enamel. Most cases need no injection and you can go straight back to your day.
Looking after your bonding
With good care, composite bonding can last several years before it needs polishing or repair. Regular visits to our dental hygienist keep it smooth and stain-free, and your routine check-up lets us spot any small chips early.
Bonding is part of our wider cosmetic dentistry service. To find out whether it is right for you, call 01624 863422 or book a new patient appointment.
