Dental Hygienist in Douglas & the Isle of Man

Regular hygienist visits are one of the best investments you can make in your teeth. Our hygienists remove hardened tartar, polish away stains and help you keep gums healthy for life. Patients from Douglas, Onchan and across the Isle of Man see our hygiene team in a relaxed, friendly setting.

What happens at a hygiene appointment

Your hygienist checks your gums, measures any pockets around the teeth, and then gently removes plaque and tartar above and below the gum line. Teeth are polished to remove staining from tea, coffee and smoking, leaving them smooth and fresh.

We also give practical, personalised advice on brushing, interdental brushes and diet, so the benefits last between visits.

Preventing and treating gum disease

Bleeding gums are often the first sign of gum problems. Hygienists play a key role in gum disease treatment, using deeper cleaning to help inflamed gums heal and reduce the risk of tooth loss.

Healthy gums are also essential before any cosmetic work. A hygiene visit is usually recommended before teeth whitening, composite bonding or veneers, and throughout clear aligner treatment when cleaning can be more challenging.

How often should you visit?

Most adults benefit from a hygienist appointment every six months, though some need more frequent care. We will recommend an interval based on your gum health. Patients with dental implants also need specialist cleaning to keep implants healthy.
